Kristin Bernert
SVP of Business & Basketball Operations, New York Knicks

Kristin Bernert, Senior Vice President of Business Operations for the New York Liberty, is in her fifth year with the franchise. After overseeing the Liberty’s business development for three seasons, she was promoted to SVP of both business and basketball operations in January 2015. In her current role with the Liberty, Bernert oversees all aspects of business and team operations, including marketing, ticket sales, sponsorships and player relations.

Bernert has nearly two decades of sports business experience, previously serving as President of the Los Angeles Sparks. She also worked as Vice President of Team Business Development for the NBA and WNBA, in addition to a tenure in corporate sales with the Cleveland Indians.

As President of the Sparks, Bernert was responsible for managing and developing all aspects of business and basketball operations. During her stint with the WNBA, she oversaw growth in all areas of team business for all 14 WNBA teams. She was also in charge of facilitating the development and execution of league events and integrated initiatives.

Prior to joining the WNBA league office, she served as the Vice President of Business Operations for the Detroit Shock from 2002-2005. Bernert was pivotal helping build the Shock’s championship roster as the franchise went to capture the WNBA title in 2003.

Previous to transitioning to a career in professional sports, Bernert held Assistant Athletic Director positions for marketing at The Ohio State University and Bowling Green State University.

Bernert graduated from Siena College in 1996, after playing four seasons for the Saints’ women’s basketball team. She was inducted into the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Hall of Fame Honor Roll in 2015. Bernert received her Masters’s in Sport Management from Ohio State in 1998.
