We are glad to introduce Chelsea Baez (C), Elizabeth "Bizzie" Howitt (E), Janelle Linton (J), and Vinson Sanders III (V) (from left to right) as new staff members to our 2015-2016 Fiscal Year. As a way of getting to know our new family member please enjoy these short interviews:
Q1: What motivates you to work hard?
C: Working hard is the only option, knowing that if I don't put my all into something I'm not only wasting my time but the time of those people who are passionate about what they do.
E: A desire to learn what I am capable of.
J: My mother. She is the strongest woman I know and her life struggles motivate me to be the best person I can be.
V: Knowing that each step is progress towards being the best employee , student and individual I could be.
Q2: If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would you do?
C: I would shadow a GM of a sports team to experience how much work goes into managing a professional team.
E: I would travel to somewhere I've never been before.
J: Explore a part of the world I've never been before.
V: Unlimited resources to create entertaining content.
Q3: If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
E: Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
J: Jamaican oxtail with rice and peas, baked macaroni and cheese with a side salad
V: A medium rare cheeseburger
Q4: How would your friends describe you?
C: Sarcastic, trustworthy
E: Loyal, considerate
J: People person, comedian
Q5: Are you and introvert or extrovert?
C: Introvert with extrovert tendencies
J: Little bit of both. I love my alone time but I also like to be adventurous and meet new people.
Q6: What do you look to offer New Heights?
C: New insight and a new perspective as one of the oldest alumni of the program.
E: A shared passion for offering educational opportunities for children.
J: I look to offer my insight on what drives young people and to offer new/innovative ideas that would benefit the organization.
V: Professionalism through innovation.
Q7: What 3 things do you think about everyday?
C: What's going to be the next thing I eat, my parents and sister, my doggies.
E: Remembering to pack my Diet Cokes for the day, what I'm going to eat for dinner, whether or not everybody on the subway can hear my music.
J: Food, school work and what I need to do to be great.
V: Success, progression, and being entertained.
Q8: Whats your biggest success up until now?
C: I think my biggest success up until now is accepting my flaws and being able to really and truly love the person I am.
E: Realizing my dream of becoming a teacher.
J: Graduating from Syracuse University and being accepted to a Master's program at New York University.
V: Obtaining my bachelors degree
Q9: If you could go back in time, what year would you go back to?
C: 2007, my middle school years where the best years of my life.
E: Anytime is HS because I loved the camaraderie of my sports team.
J: 2010, when I started my college career. I would just love to relive and add to the amazing experiences I had.
V: 2004 (guess we'll have to ask why...)
Q10: What do you like most about your job?
C: I love that I am able to be myself and how family oriented the staff is.
E: The dedicated New Heights staff members I get to work with.
J: Being able to interact with the young professionals and student- athletes who are in the New Heights' network. They help me figure out how to improve the work we do for our future student-athletes.
V: I enjoy being able to provide one-on-one tutoring in various subjects with the student-athletes. This has given me better insight into their skills and what they're like off the court.
